Don’t Blame the Killer, Blame the Victim

Early this morning, 03.10.2010, Israeli occupation border police murdered another Palestinian in cold blood. Izz Id-Din Al-Kawazba, a 38 year old father of 6 from Si’eer in Hebron, was shot dead from point blank range by an Israeli occupation officer. He was with a group of Palestinian labourers seeking work in occupied Jerusalem when they were chased by Israeli border police near Al-Isawiyyeh. Israeli police spokesman claimed that Al-Kawazba had struggled with the officer and “was injured when a “shot was fired apparently accidentally” by a border guard officer after he “attempted to grab one of the border police’s gun.”[1] Palestinian workers who witnessed the murder testified that there was no struggle whatsoever between Al-Kawazba and the Israeli policeman and that Al-Kawazba was executed. Salah Abed Rabbo Al-Kawazba, who was only 20 meters away from his cousin when the murder took place, refuted the Israeli claim that the gun “misfired” and confirmed that Izz Id-Din was executed at close range. He said that a group of Israeli border police were chasing them and that the martyr couldn’t run fast because of his heavy weight, then “Suddenly I saw a soldier approaching Izz Ad-Din extending his gun to his body and shooting”[2]. The workers came to see what happened to Izz Id-Din and were beaten by the police before being arrested. Salah added that “we saw them shoving the martyr’s body in a black bag and dragging it more than 50 meters.”[3] Israeli newspapers said that the murder took place “in the midst of an attempt to infiltrate in to Israel”[4], but how can one infiltrate into his/her own country? While Izz Id-Din Al-Kawazba was an indigenous Palestinian, it is his killers who are infiltrating and colonizing and occupying a land that doesn’t belong to them. As usual and to act concerned, Israeli police claimed the murder will be investigated by an internal police unit and we all know what comes out of these “internal” investigations. When I heard the news about the martyrdom of Izz Id-Din Al-Kawazba, the first thing that came to my mind was: what excuse are they going to use this time to justify the murder? Which justification from the list of “how to explain our crimes” are they going to use this time to protect the killer? The list is long and has been in use, adjusted and added to since over 60 years. And as expected, the Israeli justification is either the victim attacked the killer as with Samir Sarhan, which later proved to be a lie, or that the bullet was fired “accidentally” just like the bullet that “accidentally” killed the bound Hazim Abu Ad-Dab’aat or that the lives of the armed soldiers were endangered like the armed special forces whose lives were endangered by Ziad Al-Julani who was shot dead from range zero while lay injured on the ground.

The Zionist entity never commits crimes, never murders children, never forces people out of their homes and never demolishes homes and trees. No; it is the victims who kill themselves to implicate Israel, it is the children who shoot themselves to tarnish the image of Israel, it is the people who freely leave their homes and their belonging and chose a life of displacement just so they can blame Israel, it is the homes and the fields that destroy themselves because they are Anti-Semites and want other to hate Israel.
Unarmed Palestinians are extrajudicially executed for carrying an “explosive belt” that never existed.
Unarmed Palestinians are killed for endangering the lives of the fully-armed settlers and soldiers who attack Palestinian towns, villages and refugee camps.
Unarmed Palestinians are murdered when Israeli army guns misfire while soldiers are “cleaning them”, keeping in mind that these guns only “misfire” when a Palestinian is in the vicinity.

And judging from all these “incidents”, “misfires” and “mistaken explosive belts” we may assume that the war machine of the Zionist entity is mutated and is capable of “smelling” a Palestinian even if he/she is on Mars. In this case, it is not the Zionist entity that is to blame for the murdering of thousands over thousands of Palestinians and it is not to be blamed for the hundreds of massacres. We have to blame these weapons which, upon smelling a Palestinian, develop a life of their own and kill without the Zionist soldier having an ounce of power over them. They are evil these weapons, pure evil and the Zionist soldier who carries a rifle, who rides a tank, who flies an F16 or who directs a warship is not to blame when these machines smell a Palestinian and start killing.
It is the gun which upon smelling a Palestinian develops a life of its own and fires to kill Palestinian unarmed men, women and children, so don’t blame the Zionist finger that presses the trigger.
It is the Markava which upon smelling a Palestinian develops a life of its own and bombs entire Palestinian towns, villages and refugee camps and destroying Palestinian homes over their owners, so don’t blame the Zionist soldier who drives the Israeli tank.
It is the F16 which upon smelling a Palestinian develops a life of its own and starts firing at Palestinian cars, ambulances, schools and kindergartens, so don’t blame the Zionist soldier who flies these killing machines.
It is the warship which upon smelling a Palestinian develops a life of its own and starts bombarding Palestinian fishermen and Palestinian families seeking refuge in their homes, so don’t blame the Zionist soldier who operates these monsters.
It is the warplane which upon smelling a Palestinian develops a life of its own and starts dropping phosphorous bombs and napalm over Palestinian residential areas, so don’t blame the Zionist pilots who fly these warplanes.
It is the bulldozer which upon smelling a Palestinian develops a life of its own and runs over Palestinians and international activists, crushing their bones and lives and destroying the homes and fields, so don’t blame the Zionist who drives the Caterpillar.

And while we are at it, don’t blame the Zionist entity for being the personification of racism, terrorism and ethnic cleansing. It is the land, the air and the water that is killing the Palestinians, not the Zionist soldiers and colonists who occupy our land, our air and our waters. It is Palestine that is ethnically cleaning itself of its indigenous people the Palestinians, so stop blaming the Zionist entity which expelled 80% of the Palestinian population out of their homes, stop blaming the Zionist entity which ethnically cleansed and erased 85% of the Palestinian towns and villages and stop blaming the Zionist entity that has been occupying, oppressing and murdering the Palestinian people for over 60 years. For it is not Israel to blame for its war crimes, it is the others.

So, don’t blame the Zionist entity the next time a Palestinian child is murdered in cold blood by the Zionists, blame the weapons that are anti-Semite and are intent on disfiguring the image of the “most moral army in the world”. Don’t blame the Zionist entity the next time a Palestinian field is destroyed and thousands of trees uprooted by the Zionists, blame the bulldozers that are Anti-Zionists and intent on tarnishing the image of those who “made the desert bloom”. Don’t blame the Zionist entity the next time an illegal Zionist colony is built on the ruins of Palestinian homes and lives, blame the stones and bulldozers that develop a life of their own and are intent on destroying the image of the “willing-to-compromise-for-the-sake-of-peace entity”. Don’t blame the Zionist entity the next time a Palestinian family is kicked out of its ancestral home by the Zionists, blame the homes that want a change of owners and are intent on ruining the image of the “a-people-without-a-land-for-a-land-without-a-people entity”. Don’t blame the Zionist entity the next time a Palestinian woman or a Palestinian baby is killed at an Israeli military checkpoint, blame the woman and the baby for wanting to die at the checkpoint just to embarrass Israel. Don’t blame the Zionist entity the next time you hear of the over 7000 Palestinians locked up in Israeli dungeons, blame the dungeons that are alive and demand to be fed Palestinians every day. Don’t blame the Zionist entity the next time a settler car or an Israeli army jeep runs over a Palestinian elderly, blame the cars that want to implicate the Zionist driver and just love to hit Palestinians.

And because the world is hypocrite and complicit in Zionist crimes, the Zionist entity keeps feeding the world its ludicrous justifications and is continuously getting away with one war crime after the other. But the next time you read or hear of the “justification” for murdering yet another innocent Palestinian,
Remember Mahmoud Salah, the Palestinian student who was bound and executed by the IOF for allegedly carrying an explosive belt that never existed.
Remember Fahmi Ad-Darduk, the Palestinian child whose body was riddled with bullets by the IOF for allegedly carrying a bomb which miraculously “disappeared”.
Remember Rana Al-Jayyousi and her baby and the 5 Palestinian mothers and the 35 Palestinian babies murdered by the IOF at Israeli military checkpoint because they were prevented from reaching a hospital.
Remember Rami Nofal, the 1 year old baby, and the hundreds of Palestinian patients who died because of the Israeli siege on Gaza and because of the over 600 military checkpoints within the West Bank.
Remember  Ahmad An-Nuweri, one of many Palestinians tortured to death inside Israeli cells.
Remember Samir Sarhan, one of many Palestinians killed by Zionist settlers in cold blood.
Remember Maryam Makhtoub, 52 year old grandmother, and the 17 Palestinians killed by the IOF and the Zionist colonists while praying in Al-Aqsa mosque.
Remember Ziad Swi’id and the 7 Palestinian labourers murdered by Israeli soldiers while working to feed their families.
Remember Lina An-Nabulsi, the 15 year old pupil who killed by the IOF on her way home from school.
Remember Mohammad Maraqa, the 11 years old boy, and the 29 Palestinians killed by the Zionists and the IOF while praying in Al-Ibrahimi mosque.
Remember Khadija Shawahneh and the 5 Palestinians killed by the IOF while protecting their land on Land Day.

Remember the victims of all Israeli massacres, remember Deir Yasin, Qibya, Kuf Qasim, Sabra and Shatila, remember Al-Aqsa massacre, Al-Ibrahimi massacre, Jenin massacre, Nablus massacre and remember Gaza.
Remember every Palestinian child, man and woman who was killed by the Zionist entity. Remember them every time Israel commits a new crime and claims the victims are to blame. Remember them and remember that they are still waiting for justice.
